Ralph Waldo Emerson: Did He Really Say That?

In the DC Comics graphic novel Batman:Detective 27  writer Michael Uslan actually quotes American essayist and poet Ralph Waldo Emerson:

“What lies behind us, and what lies before us, are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”

I guess that is one of the differences between so-called “graphic novels” and plain ol’ comic books. Graphic novels quote Emerson.

(Although various websites attribute the quote to Henry David Thoreau or Oliver Wendell Holmes. Like the one below, for example.)
