Obviously, idiosyncratic English film director  Alex Cox (Repo Man, Sid and Nancy) and his “cast” had a hoot raising Hell.

It’s all here: the lingering close-ups, Taco Rock soundtrack and  ultraviolence familiar to anyone who has seen and savored classic Clint  shoot-em-ups like The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

It’s a retro blast to see the late (and sadly missed) Joe Strummer alive and well and playing cowboy for the camera back in 1987.

Elvis Costello, Grace Jones, Courtney Love, indie film-maker Jim Jarmusch and members of the Pogues all have cameo roles in this feverish epic shot in the Spanish desert.

However, this sun-baked spoof of spaghetti westerns is best enjoyed with mucho tequila. (Forget about lime and salt. Drink it straight from the bottle. It’s that kind of movie.)
